The Animal Emergency Hospital of Central CT has been performing C Sections for fifteen years and we have perfected the Caesarean Section process.
At the Animal Emergency Hospital of Central CT there is always a surgeon on staff to immediately proceed to C-section along with a very knowledgeable staff to aid in the delivery of puppies. Our staff is prepared to be ready in minutes to perform your bitch’s C-Section:
- Evaluation for active labor, which may include a vaginal exam, X-ray or ultrasound to assess fetal heart rates.
- Blood tests, drawn and run in-house for instant interpretation by a Veterinarian. May include, hormone, and pre-operative tests.
- Post-operative monitoring and care of bitch and puppies.
Neonatal care postoperative to C-sections is part of the care we provide. We assess each puppy individually, ensure strength and nursing ability and administer oxygen if needed. When the pups and mom are doing well we will help you get them bundled and home quickly so the bitch can be in her own environment and learn to mother appropriately.

"To the staff of the Animal ER Hospital of Central CT...Smokey is recuperating after surgery. The rubber bands you took out of his stomach, don't seem to have slowed him down much. He's been hunting on my dresser for more!"
